LandArt '09 | Project Materialization | Work Kick-off

Today, artists went on field, the work has begun for everybody. With the help of local carpenters and other residents, they’ve started preparing wood, transporting stones and began to see the first glance of their projects gaining shape.

Everybody is busy. Whenever artists get back to the village, they take the chance to better sketch their drafts, to draw to paint, and to produce using various media. The ambiance is full of creativity and enthusiasm.

During the morning, Gonçalo Leandro and Nicolas Corboz, along with two local residents, went to the village of JimBau to buy some tools. The experience could not have been more interesting, in a medieval style. Some forms have been made at the moment; the hot iron was hit several times by two craftsmen, which presented the work done only a few minutes later.

The processes are pure, contrasting with the modernism and escalating pace of the big Chinese cities. Experiences like these are certainly rare in today's world.
